From WordPress version 3.1 the excerpt box of the post editor is ‘disappear’. Well, this excerpt box is actually hidden from wordpress 3.1. For some reason, the developers team of WordPress decide to remove this useful text box from the default installation of WordPress.
You can learn how to add the excerpt box here.

I’ve also notice that the default option of the ‘Privacy Settings’ become enable, again. As we know, from WordPress 3.0 this option was disable (‘I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors’) by very logic reason – While you are installing the WordPress platform it is better to avoid the search engines looking what is happening inside your site. Anyway, from version 3.1 of WordPress, this option become enable again, so we must disable it just after we installing the whole site.
